When I dismiss another manβs faith, it makes me wonder if mine isnβt just as questionable.
It seems to me institutions that use religion to justify war, inequality, or censorship have no place in politics. They are all decrees of some man who thinks he is a God.
And, I can assure you - in my travels throughout the ether - if a man's hand IS involved, it is not of God's arm. Or, arms - if you are Hindu, or a Buddhist. God has many forms.
Nor, would God want it to be any other way. It would be like chaining himself/herself - itself - to a tree. Or, in your case, holding onto the tail of a horse. Both are equally as ineffective for doing anybody any good.
Unfortunately, the lust for power transcends the time that humans or chimps are around. And, those scoundrels will climb over each other just to get a brief taste of it, no matter what century it is.
Some people are so crazy for control, that they will cling to ANYTHING which can give it. Even if it comes bundled in a big diaper or with a big set of lips.
That reminds me of the Beecher Trial I once covered as a journalist - the Gospel According to Male Gossip as reported by myself - Mark Twain.
The defendant was Henry Ward Beecher - Americaβs most celebrated preacher of the time. He said things like "The worst thing in this world, next to anarchy, is government."
Beecher the Preacher loved to talk a lot about love. And, he practiced it. He was one of those "NAGA" types - "Not A Good American". We called them nags. And, they really were, too.
He once said:
"Greatness lies, not in being strong, but in the right using of strength; and strength is not used rightly when it serves only to carry a man above his fellows for his own solitary glory. He is the greatest whose strength carries up the most hearts by the attraction of his own."
Does anybody even know what that means? Apparently, he DID.
Beecher stood accused of adultery. Not just once, but in many whispers, letters, and rumors at his sermons. In fact, there was a song even written about him:
"The Reverend Henry Ward Beecher
Said hens are an elegant creature.
Of those pleased with that,
Laid eggs in his lap.
What will judgement day hatch for that preacher?"
I bet Trump knows the answer to it.
And, like Trump, Vance - and the rest of them - this man was also a congressional ghoul that perfectly looked the part.
Apparently, God didn't want him either.
History repeats itself more than it should. If you think we cannot get out from under these ghouls, then all I can say is we did it several times before. You people should be getting good at it by now.
Beecher, like Trump, wrapped himself in token causes he really didn't care for, to gain entry through the pearly gates.
This is like Trump arguing he was a good guy, because he didn't punch somebody out as often as he otherwise would have liked to.
The closest Trump's gonna get to heaven is on an airplane.
